How we score a homepage brand audit
ratemybrand.pro is a first-impression / brand perception audit, not a technical SEO grader, Lighthouse report, or PageSpeed tool. Here is the exact model behind the 0–100 score.
What a first-impression score means
When someone lands on a homepage, they decide in seconds whether the brand feels credible, clear, and worth another click. Our composite score estimates that first-impression quality from desktop (1440px) and mobile (390px) screenshots.
It answers: Does this homepage look cohesive, say what you sell, prove you are trustworthy, feel distinct, and make the next action obvious?
Capture process
- You submit a public homepage URL.
- We capture desktop at 1440px and mobile at 390px.
- Those screenshots (and supporting page signals) are evaluated across five weighted dimensions with structured criteria.
- You receive per-dimension scores (0-100) on the results page plus a ranked issue list. The composite is a weighted average.
Typical turnaround is about 60 seconds. Pay $27, sign in with Whop, then scan. Result links expire after about one hour. Email the list if you want to keep it. See the privacy policy.
Dimension weights and criteria
Weights are fixed. Raising Visual Identity cannot hide a broken value proposition. Messaging & Clarity carries equal weight for a reason.
Visual Identity
25%- Logo prominence and placement in the first viewport
- Color consistency across hero, sections, and UI chrome
- Typography hierarchy: can a stranger scan what matters?
- Visual cohesion vs patched-together template feel
Messaging & Clarity
25%- Headline specificity (product/category/buyer, not slogans)
- Value proposition comprehension within ~8 seconds
- Clarity of who the page is for
- Whether supporting copy reinforces or dilutes the hero
Trust & Credibility
20%- Social proof density (logos, numbers, testimonials)
- Certifications, badges, or third-party validation
- Contact / company accessibility
- Whether proof reduces buying anxiety or raises it
Differentiation
15%- Competitive distinctiveness: could this swap with a rival?
- Unique positioning signals in copy and structure
- Wedge clarity vs generic “best-in-class” language
Technical UX
15%- Navigation clarity from the homepage
- Primary CTA prominence and wording
- Layout readability at 1440px capture width
- Whether the page helps visitors act or get stuck
Score interpretation bands
- 70–100: Strong. Minor refinements; prioritize the highest-severity fixes first.
- 40–69: Needs work. Follow the ranked issues; messaging and trust usually move first.
- 0–39: Critical. Significant repositioning or redesign is likely required before conversion tests matter.
Brand audit vs website grader
Tools like HubSpot Website Grader and PageSpeed Insights measure technical SEO, performance, and crawl health. Those matter, and they are a different job.
ratemybrand.pro measures homepage brand perception: visual cohesion, message clarity, trust signals, differentiation, and actionability from what a visitor can see. Use a grader for Core Web Vitals; use this audit when the page “looks fine” but still does not convert.

Limitations (read this)
- · Homepage only, not multi-page journeys or authenticated product UI.
- · Desktop 1440px and mobile 390px captures. Not tablet.
- · Scores are analysis-generated, not a human expert certification.
- · Cannot measure real load times, backend health, or SEO meta correctness.
- · Access is a pass to run audits; results are opinionated and can vary between runs.
